Dogs’ death leads to communal clash in Ilorin


The Police Command in Kwara  says it has   arrested 10  people over a fracas that broke out at Abayawo area of  IIorin metropolis  on Wednesday.

The News Agency of  Nigeria (NAN) reports that some  residents,  including a police officer, were wounded in the incident  which lasted  several  hours.

The command’s spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the arrest in an interview with NAN.He, however, said no life was lost in the incident while those injured had been conveyed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

NAN  reports  that the ever- busy Abayawo-Okelele road was deserted on Wednesday  while  scores of policemen were sighted  keeping vigil in the area.Pupils in  public and private schools in the area  rushed home  as a result of the fracas  while  social and economic activities were  paralysed .

An eye witness  said that the fracas was caused by the killing of  a hunter’s dog  by a car belonging to a resident of  Abayawo.
