First Lady of Nigeria blasts Governor Akpabio.

Governor Godswill Akpabio is one of the governors believed to be close to President Goodluck Jonathan in the political calculation of 2015, but those who know what is really going on are saying that Akpabio is also one of those on Jonathan's 1,000 political watch list that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo exposed.
As you read this, the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party as a result of President Jonathan’s second term ambition may have claimed another casualty. The latest, according to an inside source, is the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, as his secret ambition has finally come out open. Inside sources within the nation’s seat of power informed THE INK newspaper that Nigeria’s first lady and wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan descended ferociously on Akpabio at the Presidential Villa in Abuja recently, accusing him of being a cog in the wheel of the process to resolve the crisis in the PDP. According to the source, a visibly angry Patience Jonathan shouted at the Governor and asked him why he is busy deceiving her husband, President Jonathan. She was said to have told Governor Akpabio point blank that he should stop masquerading himself before her husband as a peacemaker and concentrate on his now revealed Vice Presidential ambition. Reports reaching the First Lady, the source continued, have confirmed that Governor Akpabio’s treachery and pursuit of his Vice Presidential ambition is responsible for the failure of the reconciliation process in the party and one of the reasons the G7 Governors have ditched the party. It was further revealed that the First Lady accused the Governor of being on a mission to destroy Jonathan for his selfish interest. She is said to have cited Akpabio’s recent spate of private visits to leading traditional rulers and politicians in the North and other parts of Nigeria. The President’s wife is said to have told the Governor that she was aware that Akpabio is working for his own ambition while pretending to be working for the re-election of the President. The source who spoke on strict confidentiality said that a visibly embarrassed Akpabio was dumbfounded and broke down in tears.

Ol boy see gist.

Sammie Okposo renounces membership of COSON. Why now?

Sammie Okposo, may have renounced his membership of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, barely two weeks after he criticized the National Broadcasting Commission for its failure to reach an agreement with the collecting society.

A public statement made available to the media on Thursday indicates that the award winning artiste and Glo ambassador requested COSON to stop collecting royalties and acting on his behalf with immediate effect.

“I, Sammie Okposo, a proud Nigerian artiste wishes to notify the general public and all stakeholders alike that I have stopped being a member of COSON,” the statement quoted the singer as saying.

The statement reads, “The registration of COSON is commendable and may have set the Industry on the path to growth and consolidation but accountability and transparency is very important. My facts reveal that there is nothing in COSON’s constitution that limits the number of terms the Chairman of the Board could serve and this is extremely dangerous. I read Onyeka Onwenu’s interview and she cited it as one of the reasons she left the board of COSON. All effort must be made to ensure COSON does not end up the property of one man. COSON is now delving into awards and competitive activities that are not related to its core responsibilities and this is a distraction”.

According to the statement, Okposo chose to part ways with the organization because of what he described as the “selfish interests” of some of its members.

“Our artistes must get their due respect and recognition. The organization needs to imbibe the art of transparency in the disbursement of funds. How do you disburse royalty payments without showing the artistes the logs? It’s unacceptable. This issue must also be looked into with a view to ensuring that monies collected actually go to deserving artistes,” he was quoted as saying.

Okposo finally called on the Federal Government to beam its search lights on the activities of such organisations through the enactment and implementation of laws and oversight function.

Lookbooknaija on Drake 2013 in review.

Drake has been an integral part of Hip Hop in 2013. With the release of Nothing Was The Same, "Wu-Tang Forever," "The Language" and more, Drake made headlines throughout the year.

This year, Drake released Nothing Was The Same, his most recent full-length studio album. The work features "Tuscan Leather," "Worst Behavior," "The Language" and "Wu-Tang Forever," selections that helped Drake reach platinum certification with this release. After the project arrived, Drake spoke about making it. "My right-hand partner in music creation, challenged me on this album to trim that fat," Drake said. "To make a very concise project and asked me to—actually gave me a song cap. Asked me to keep it at 13 or 14 songs on the original. And so that was an interesting challenge for me. And now that it’s out and the world appreciates it, it’s a great feeling."

In July, Nicki Minaj responded to questions regarding Drake's status with Young Money Cash Money Billionaires. During an interview with New York radio station Hot 97, Minaj was asked whether Drake is in Young Money or not and Minaj offered what she said sounded like a riddle as her answer.

"Is he not in Young Money?" Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex said to Minaj. "I'm not saying it wrong, but something is definitely not the same as the first album [with Drake]. That's how I feel. How do you feel?" Minaj responded. "Peoples' perception of their reality is their perception of their reality," Minaj said. "Sometimes people make moves based on their perception of what reality is. I know that sounds like a riddle, but maybe one day you'll be able to unravel that one. All I can say is this, Lil Wayne is everything to me. I can't speak for anyone else. What Young Money and Cash Money did for Nicki Minaj, I can never repay them for. So, I am forever indebted to them. Whatever happens with any other artist, I don't know. [Drake's] so talented. Sometimes, we've seen this. Sometimes when you're really intelligent and you're really talented, you also think a lot. Sometimes your mind is racing with thoughts. It is what it is. People go through their own motions and you've gotta respect it and keep it moving. We all love the team. We all love Wayne. That's what's gonna always hold us together. Drake is my baby because that's how it was when we came in. So whenever I think of him, 'That's my baby.' Whatever is going on now, obviously we're all very busy and you know, shit happens. It gets a little hard to have a real connection when people are on different sides of the world, working on different things. You just never know who people got in their ear or what they're feeling or maybe they felt wronged in some way. I don't know. I just know that Drake is my baby and Wayne is my everything."
