French prosecutor wants case against Franck Ribery, Karim Benzema dropped

A prosecutor has asked on Wednesday that French soccer internationals Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema be discharged of solicitation of an underage prostitute.

"It is impossible for the accusation to prove that Franck Ribery was aware" that Zahia Dehar, a prostitute-turned-fashion model, was under 18 - the age of majority in France, prosecutor Jean-Julien Xavier-Rolai told the Correctional Court of Paris.

Xavier-Rolin added that Benzema should also be discharged.Real Madrid striker Benzema and Bayern Munich forward Ribery, who were not attending the four-day trial, were being tried on charges of paying Dehar when she was aged 16 and 17.

Ribery has admitted paying her for sex but said he did not know how old she was.

Benzema has denied having any sexual relations with Dehar.Paying for sex is not illegal in France but underage prostitution is.

Last December, the National Assembly passed a bill to fine prostitutes clients, but it still has to pass the Senate and be signed by president Francois Hollande before it becomes law.The judges' decision is expected on Thursday, although it is highly likely that the case will be adjourned for further deliberation.

Contestant draws Kate Henshaw at Nigeria Got Talent audition

Nigeria’s Got Talent judge and Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw may have found herself in a wooing game when she appeared to have caught the eyes of one of the semi-finalists in the on-going season two of the Nigeria’s Got Talent sponsored by leading telecoms operator, Airtel Nigeria.

The charming, beautiful celebrity judge seemed to be heading for a conflict of interest at the weekend when Enugu-born singer, John Bethel opened his performance on the night by rehearsing on music a sketched portrait of the actress before unveiling a smiling image of the actress.

This however, turned sour for the young man whose performance was summarily dismissed by judge Yibo Koko who chided him for failing to work at meeting expectations and seeking to exploit an emotional angle.“Of all that have performed here, you are the least on this show,” spouted a visibly angry Yibo.

Despite openingly admitting her love for the portrait and requesting to have it for keeps, Kate Henshaw was quick to put aside sentiments as she ripped into the youthful act with some damning notes bothering on the performance.  Dan Foster, the third judge on the show must have proved somewhat a comfort for the singer as he rather chose to toe the line of correction and admonition, having pointed out the misses in the performances.Other contestants vying for a place in the finals include The Elevators, Imeh Peace, Oasis, ESN, John (8 Strings) Azuka, Showboy Efe and Precious Play.

From these, the act with the highest number of votes will be joined on the finals train by the act with at least 2/3 majority votes of the judges. The Season two of the Bharti Airtel- sponsored ‘’Got Talent’’ reality TV show commenced on October 9 with nation-wide auditions in select cities including Abuja, Port- Harcourt, Asaba, Calabar, Enugu, Benin, Ibadan and Lagos .

The semi-finals opened on December 29 with the finals expected to hold on February 8, 2014.It is the only talent competition show that is open to any age and any talent, with auditions taking the show to numerous cities in search of a one-of-a-kind gifted or skilled individual.

Deinde Fernandez’s daughter wants to be next Rihana

Musician daughter of billionaire businessman, Anthony Deinde Fernandez, Abimbola, speaks on her music career.

A Nigerian heiress, whose father is said to be one of the world’s wealthiest men, has set her sights on becoming the next Rihanna.Abimbola ‘Bim’ Fernandez, the daughter of gemstone entrepreneur Antonio Deinde Fernandez, has celebrated the release of her first single by sitting down for an interview with the New York Post.

The 24-year-old, who is based in New York, told the paper that she has embarked on her career without the help of her dad, who is reportedly worth a staggering  $8.7million. She did, however, admit that he gives her a hefty monthly allowance which pays for her luxury Manhattan apartment among other living expenses.

Speaking to the paper in her New York City home, which is flanked by original artworks by Picasso and Dr. Seuss, Ms Fernandez explained. “I think that, unfortunately, everyone’s perception of socialites has been pretty accurate so far, which is what I want to change.’Ms Fernandez’s first single “Let’s Take It Naked’ was released today on SMH Records” site, with an iTunes roll-out expected soon.

She cites Rihanna as one of her biggest musical inspirations.“Money can’t buy a record deal,” she said of her situation. “It can’t buy good music. You can either sing or you can’t.”A song about nakedness is perhaps a little more explicit than what one would expect from a well-heeled socialite, but Ms Fernandez says that it’s not even that racy of a song!“It’s very poppy, like, ‘I think you’re cute! Do you like me? So let’s get naked!” I want it to be that song where it’s like, ‘Turn that song on! Let’s get ready! Let’s do shots!

Her record label says that Ms Fernandez has not put any of her own money into the music project.Ms Fernandez comes from unorthodox beginnings. Her family counted Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan as good friends.

Her father, 80, owns four residences: A mansion in Larchmont, New York (where Ms Fernandez also resides), a home in Brussels, a Palace in Nigeria, and a French chateau that was once owned by Napoleon.

Mr Fernandez is apparently transported between each of his homes on one of his three private jets.He made his fortune by operating a series of diamond and gold mines across the Central African Republic, and is notably reclusive for fear of abduction and robbery.

He is so private that blog entries written about him across the Internet almost describe him as a mythical-type person. Figures regarding his exact wealth, properties, and other assets appear to be widely rumored and disputed.Ms Fernandez’s starkly different outlook on publicity and self-promotion has worried her father.“He’s terrified because I’m his baby – especially with (me) revealing (my) wealth. And me being alone in the country, he’s terrified of someone kidnapping me and holding me for ransom,” she said.‘He also just doesn’t want people taking advantage of me because I have been sheltered my whole life.”Last year, Ms Fernandez finally decided to see-out her life-long dream of a singing career after her mother died of colon cancer.

Her only prior professional music experience was a vocal cameo in Cobra Starship’s 2009 album Hot Mess – a feature she booked after meeting the band’s lead singer Gabe Saporta backstage at a show.In November, she signed her record deal with SMH and is now topping off negotiations for her reality TV pilot to be picked up by a major network.

Ms Fernandez herself sees its release as an opportunity to prove her own potential.“People think I’m exactly like Paris Hilton, that I do nothing, I don’t work for myself, I don’t take my own money, I just spend my dad’s money, and I’m a spoiled brat. I hope they’re not right.”•
