Former child actor Macaulay Culkin has switched from acting to music.
Culkin, who rose to fame as the clever youngster in the 1990 movie Home Alone and its sequels, is scheduled to perform with his band, The Pizza Underground, in New York on 8 February, the concert organiser said.
The performance in Manhattan's Greenwich Village will be the first in a series of Kidrockers concerts for children and their parents. Culkin, 33, and four other band members will perform. The recently formed group is a tribute to the group Velvet Undergound. Kidrockers founder Beth Lorge said the idea behind the Kidrockers concerts is to create an opportunity for kids and parents to discover artists and get to see them play live in a comfortable environment.
"The Kids and their parents will be given the unique opportunity to experience an authentic, awesome and 'of the moment' rock show," Lorge said.
Culkin went through a rocky period after becoming famous. His career was overshadowed by a bitter custody fight with his parents in which Culkin denied them any of his earnings.
Later he was prosecuted on a drugs charge. After getting past those problems, Culkin was never able to re-establish himself as an actor in Hollywood.
