All that went down at Goodluck Jonathan's daughter's bridal shower in Aso Rock!
In anticipation of her wedding for today, President Goodluck Jonathan’s daughter, Faith Elizabeth Sakwe’s group of friends on Thursday night had a colourful bridal shower to celebrate the bride.
The bridal shower which took place at House 7, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja was full of fun, games, dance and music.
The event was well-attended by bride's personal friends, family, and other well-wishers who came in droves and hugging gifts. Besides a couple of male photographers and the Disc jockey, men were barely present. Like the traditional bridal showers, there were a lot of ribbons, toilet papers and gloves in bright and bold colors.
The bridal shower which started at 7pm, started with a group dance that ushered in the bride who was in the middle of her friends to the palatial sitting room venue of the party. While everybody sat round a table, the glowing bride sat on a special chair. One of the ladies, the host at the event unveiled their mission and opened the first game of the night.
They had a puzzle with the title THINK LIKE THE BRIDE, where questions such as LIVE IN THE CIOTY OR SURBURB, DO THE LAUNDRY OR DISHES, TAKE A BIRTH OR SHOWER, WEAR LIPSTICKS OR LIP GLOSS, STAY IN THE POOL OR OCEAN, ETC.
The answers written on papers were swapped for marking and the winner emerged in Glory James, who was presented with a beautiful gift. This was followed by another game DRAWING OF THE BRIDE on pieces of paper, to the amazement of all, and again Glory James drew the best picture of the bride.
Thirdly, the bevy of ladies, about 100, formed themselves into a group of six and they made a wedding gown with tissue papers, the fourth group emerged winner.
Faith, in appreciation of her friends thanked them for the party and wished them all a beautiful day like that in no distant future. President Jonathan’s daughter, Aruabai, was full of emotions, broke down in tears, poured encomiums on the bride for her steadfastness, love and care.
She told the bride: I wish you well, I have always looked up to you and I pray that it shall be well with you.”
The ladies full of ecstasy danced round the bride, took turns to snap pictures, sipped choice wines and canapés before the shower came to close at 9PM.

The sensation of feeling the motion of the waves and the smell of the sea could only entice me to fully accept with a delightful pleasurable “Yes”. Walking on the traditional wooden long tail boat, rustic with chipped paint and a mound of ropes tangled up in the bow, I was thrilled, more so than him. Knowing his taste, he would have preferred a yacht. For me this was my yacht of choice. The three of us, including our captain sat in silence as the images of the mountains filled our eyes with colors of green and the sky of blue. He asked,“Do you like it?” How could I not, alone in the sea with the omission of frivolous disturbances, just him next to me. A stop, on an island with an old shipwreck washed on land. Climbing out, walking on the sand, distancing ourselves more and more from our boat and captain, heading towards the old wreck. A hermit crab bypassed us, as he looked at us with delight. Abba returned the glance. Eagerly looking through the wreck, he pointed to a small green box. He asked for me to open it, and at his request I did, imagining at once the thought process and maneuvering that he had had to assume to make all of this possible. Some of our mothers married our fathers when they had nothing to their names and together they grew to where they got to. Nigerian top rappers to host The VS Class
Some of Nigeria’s hottest MCs have been announced as hosts for the new Beat FM and Hennessy HipHop show, The VS Class.
Mode9; female rapper Sasha P; talented rap duo, Show Dem Camp and fast rising female rapper, Eva Alordiah will be hosting the first edition of the show.
“I can’t wait to hear these upcoming rappers spit on the mic. The VS Class show is a good step in promoting rap culture in Africa. This is the first rap show to ever hold in Nigeria and I am really exciting to be a part of it,” said Mode9.
Auditions for The VS Class, which began yesterday night, have been in progress for the past two weeks. The show has been created to discover and promote budding MCs and to give back to the hip hop community in Nigeria.
The hip-hop show will address hip hop conversations, including Hennessy’s image as hip hop’s number one spirit as well as the celebration of hip hop, both in the local and international entertainment industry.
The VS Class will feature three episodes in 2014 with well known MCs, lyricists and DJs in the Nigerian music industry as guests on the show.

Hillary Clinton dodges shoe during Las Vegas speech
A woman threw a shoe at Hillary Clinton on Thursday as the former secretary of state was delivering a speech at a Las Vegas hotel, but Clinton dodged it and continued with her remarks, a U.S. Secret Service spokesman said.
Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie said the shoe-thrower was not a ticketed guest for Clinton's speech at the Mandalay Bay hotel and had been spotted by Secret Service agents and hotel security guards before the incident.
"As agents and hotel security approached her she threw a shoe and was immediately taken into custody by the Secret Service and hotel security," Ogilvie said.
Footage of the incident broadcast by KTNV-TV showed Clinton, 66, crouching to dodge an object as she stood on stage.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper reported that the former first lady joked about the incident as she continued her speech to some 1,000 people attending a metal recycling conference
"Is that somebody throwing something at me?" Clinton asked, according to the Review-Journal. "Is that part of Cirque du Soleil?"
The newspaper quoted Clinton as saying, "My goodness, I didn't know that solid waste management was so controversial."
The throwing of shoes at political figures is a form of protest in many parts of the world. In 2008 a shoe was hurled at then-President George W. Bush when he appeared at a Baghdad press conference with the Iraqi prime minister.
Clinton, who lost the Democratic presidential nomination to then-Senator Barack Obama, said at a marketing conference in San Francisco earlier this week that she was thinking about running for president again in 2016.
She has been giving speeches across the country since leaving the State Department last year.
A hotel spokeswoman told Reuters she had no information on the episode, and a spokesman for Clinton did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Hollywood actor, Idris Elba will feature in Kunle Afolayan’s upcoming movie Beast of No Nation which is still in its pre-production stage.
Film maker Kunle Afolayan put up a casting call for actors and actresses interested to feature in the movie, and announced in the advertisement for auditions that Idris Elba will feature in the film.
Idris Elba is an English actor, producer, singer, rapper, and DJ, and acted as Nelson Mandela in the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Nollywood film maker, Kunle Afolayan has said that he doubts that Nollywood, is now worth N853.9 billion naira.
A recent analysis put Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa, with Nollywood contributing 1.2% of the Gross Domestic Product(GDP) worth N853.9 billion naira.
“I honestly do not understand how this statistics came about because i doubt that this figures exist in this my industry or maybe am just the mumu that is lacking behind.Somebody should enlighten me please." He wrote on Facebook wall.

Nigeria on Sunday became Africa's biggest economy, leap-frogging South Africa, after the government announced a long-overdue rebasing of the country's gross domestic product.

The data indicated that the economy grew to $453 billion in 2012, instead of $264 billion as measured by the World Bank for that year.
South Africa's economy was at $384 billion in 2012, according to the World Bank.
Estimates for 2013 indicated further expansion to $510 billion, Nigeria's chief statistician, Yemi Kale, told a news conference in the capital, Abuja.
"Nigeria has moved to be the largest economy by GDP size in Africa and has moved to be the 26th largest economy in the world," finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said.
"On a per capita basis, Nigeria is number 121 in the world. So, we have a total GDP size where we have moved up to 26th," the former World Bank managing director added.

The widely expected results are based on calculations taking into account a range of new sectors and industries that were negligible or non-existent in 1990.
They include the mobile telephones market -- Africa's largest -- music and the hugely popular local film industry, Nollywood.
