Bowen University students riot due to increase in fees and lack of adequate facilities (photos)

Quick Update: The management of Bowen University this morning closed the school indefinitely following students' protest last night. All students have been asked to leave the university while some students who were detained last night after the riot are yet to be released.

 Our previous report:
Some students of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State staged a not-too-peaceful protest yesterday to express their displeasure over epileptic power and inadequate water supply which have been plaguing the university for some time now.

The Students razed down buildings, smashed cars and caused mayhem all over the university campus.

A student who craved anonymity narrated the incidence to Loladeville "This issue has been going on for some time now, in fact, it started during the tenure of the last VC but it wasn't as bad as this, this new VC made it worse. At times they'll supply light for just few hours especially in the morning, it's just so annoying and painful. We pay over N400, 000 as school fees yet we don't enjoy all the basic amenities a private university should have. It's not just fair...They take the light by 8am, and bring it back by 8pm and it goes off by 11pm again. We don't have water, no socket light, while our lecturers are in AC offices and cars. We have time table for eating. 7-9am for breakfast, 12-3 for lunch and 6-8 for dinner. Most times we have classes during these periods"

Didn't you make formal complaints? "Yes we did but it's been story upon story. Nothing has really been done."

Heard some places were razed down, "Sadly it was, it took a dramatic dimension, we didn't know it was going to escalate to this level. It just shows the level of frustration that has set in. The boys left their hostels for the temporary site and burnt some stuffs down. That's all I can say for now."

They had to use tear gas  to stop the protest!

"We have injuries too" Thousands of NIS Applicants besiege National Hospitals (Photos)

Barely 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan announced automatic employment for injured applicants during the just concluded recruitment exercise of the Nigeria Immigration Service; no fewer than 200 applicants have reportedly stormed the National Hospital, Abuja, seeking to be registered as beneficiaries in the presidential munificence.

Applicants had been trooping into the National Hospital, claiming that they had treated themselves at certain private hospitals after the Saturday’s stampede.

A dependable source, who does not want his name mentioned disclosed that some of the applicants claimed that since the federal government was going to rely on the medical records from the hospital, they also needed the medical certificate to be considered for the automatic jobs.

The source said, “There is a deep problem in the land and people are becoming more desperate. This is sheer wickedness. Can you imagine a situation where some people are now claiming that they sustained injuries during the stampede and treated themselves in private hospitals and now need money since government has said that it will pay the medical bills?

“Incidentally, federal government is yet to make any funds available to us as we treated the victims without collecting any amount from them.

“Some of them are even claiming that they are related to the dead victims, saying that they are ready to take the three slots earmarked for the deceased. It will also interest you that some of them brought lawyers that will file legal action against government and claim compensation on their behalf.

“There was this pregnant woman who refused to be persuaded on the grounds that she must be given automatic employment or she would remain in the hospital. We had to use diplomacy before she agreed to leave.”

"How Celebrating Wedding Anniversaries Has Made Our Marriage Stronger" - Myne Writman

Myne Whitman is a writer, editor, publisher andbloggerShe is the author of two romance novels, both of which rose to the top ofAmazon.com bestseller lists for romantic fiction within their first few months of being self-published.
She is happily married to her best friend and they marked their fifth wedding anniversary recently.

She posted the beautiful message below on her blog a few hours ago:

Atala and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary on Valentine's day back in February. It was a couple of weeks after I returned from my 3months stint in Nigeria, and I remember leaving some threads hanging loose and a few people asking me to extend my stay for a couple more weeks so I could tie them all up neatly before returning to the United States. I told them plainly, not gonna happen. I care a lot about succeeding in my business and will make allowances on how it would affect my time with Atala and thus our relationship, but my wedding anniversary is very important to me.

It all started on our first wedding anniversary. We had followed the tradition I found out while getting ready for the wedding, that the top tier of the cake is often kept and is brought out by the couple on their first wedding anniversary. That sounded great to me. None of my previous relationships had ever crossed the one year mark and here I was getting married at over 30 after having thought all the while that I would never find "the one".  So though I knew I really loved him, I was still scared that my short tolerance fuse would blow and I would want out sooner rather than later.

So as we set out to our honeymoon, the top tier of the cake remained in the freezer. Atala travelled back to the US with it, and I joined him a couple of weeks later. Living together as man and wife is no cake walk, but we remained loved up even after we had those deep discussions that follow big blowouts. Our cake continued chilling in the freezer. A week to our one year anniversary, I was like wow, we made it!

For the first anniversary, I printed out new personalized wedding vows - the bishop who officiated our wedding used the generic ones - and we pledged them to each other. We ate our cake, and a tradition was born. We would always mark our wedding anniversaries. And I tell you, it has made our marriage stronger and healthier.

There are a lot of jokes abour one spouse or the other forgetting their wedding anniversary; but I take them really as jokes. Really, who would forget. If you set the date and got married that day, surely it is worth remembering. For us, Valentine's Day is a distraction but it also deepens our feelings of love on that day. It is also a time for us to think of our original vows, and if necessary, make new ones that are in keeping with the growth and development of our marriage.

Anniversaries are great for spending quality time with your partner. If possible you both need to discuss how the marriage is treating you both thus far and if you need to rekindle the fire of your romantic relationship. This is really important where the burdens of life are pushing you away from each other. Gifts are not imperative but they are great as a way to show appreciation of all the love, care, and joys received from one another, as well as the acceptance and encouragement given in other aspects of life.

For our fifth wedding anniversary, one of the things we did was to take some commemorative studio pictures and I've shared some of them below.

We say congrats to the happy couple!

Emeka Ike dumps German wife, splits their Kids and runs off to Abuja

Emeka Ike is in the News again and this time it doesn't have to do with his school but his wife, Emma and four kids, Michael,  Kelly,  Jason  and Andrea - family.

Emeka Ike wife n kids
Last year KFB exclusively told y'all of how the Nollywood actor beats up his wife (HERE).
Well, she has finally left him for good and the reasons for this action has to do with anger management.

This is coming in weeks after he was sent packing by his landlord after owing him house rent for over three years.

SDK reports that Emeka Ike took  two of the kids with him to Abuja while the wife is left with the other two in Lagos.
"To say she and her two kids are going through hell is an understatement. I am pained that he would subject her to such a degrading level of existence and go free. There have been allegations also that there is a lot of spousal abuse going on but I cannot out-rightly say that because the woman has not come out herself to cry out. It is a pity that some men are babies and use children as scape goats to carry out revenge against their spouses…hisses!" she wrote.
 Oh well...Emeka Ike!

GEJ to refund N1,000 fee to Immigration Job seekers, New Recruitment Exe

President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered embattled Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, to refund the N1,000 application fee collected from job seekers who wrote the ill fated Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) aptitude test that turned sour last weekend.

Pastor Sign Fireman addresses his controversial lifestyle for the FIRST time

General Overseer of the Perfect Christianity Ministries (Church for Lagos hot ladies), Dr. Sign Fireman Ukoha is one of the most controversial Pastors in Nigeria today!

He's known for carrying out fake miracles - including the late actor Enebeli Elebuwa's failed health, blaspheming God by allowing ladies wear mini-skirts and unholy outfits to his church and driving luxurious cars.
He was recently quizzed by the police over the alleged murder of a 12 year-old girl, Bose Ogoja by a boy, Ikechukwu Egboka, 18 - the suspect claimed he was paid N100, 000 by the cleric to kill a virgin and obtain her faeces for him to become rich.

After keeping mum on these scandals, Sign fireman who hails from Ohafia, Abia State, has finally spoken. Read the interesting interview he had with Encomium below:

“The story that I was bundled by the police and arrested is a lie. I drove myself to the station. A bundled man can’t drive. The story goes that I told a boy to bring the faeces of a virgin. That’s a lie. I have never met the boy in question. He claimed the mother attends one of our branches in Badagry. Imagine the distance between Badagry and Lekki, Lagos. A lot of times, I’m not even in the country. When did the boy meet me? I don’t even think he is a member of any of our branches. If I really want faeces, I could ask for it from the streets.

Why do I have to kill to get faeces? The soak-aways are there, too. How could I even have sent a boy that is yet to sit for WAEC? It never happened. So, if you look at the case, it is filled with tissues of lies.” he stated in a recent interview with Encomium.
Speaking further, he said “When I got to the station, I told the police to investigate me based on the allegation. When they couldn’t find anything incriminating, they asked me to go. I was declared free by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Defending his integrity, he said “So many people are after me, the people who are after me are the same people who were after late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, who claimed that the great man of God was a drug pusher. We are talking about the same guys who fought Rev. Dr. Anwuzia of Zoe Ministries International and ran him down.

They are the same people who fought Prophet Samson Ayorinde. They are the wicked and satanic people who battle all great men of God who God uses mightily to persform miracles. There are people who are strategically after anyone they feel is a General in the miracles. Men of God have to hear this. This is not my war. It is a war against all of us. It is Dr. Sign Fireman today; tomorrow it might be another Minister of the gospel. We have to deal with this once and for all. We have to deal with it so we can have free sail in the call and mandate God has given to us.”

Responding to various allegations that some of his miracles were fake, he said “Controversy is created when an allegation is levelled against you and you don’t reply the allegation. Thus, you reply the allegation. Thus, you wear the tag, controversial. But if it is replied, it often clears it. I have not really been replying the media. Hence, I became controversial. It doesn’t hurt me. If you say I’m a lady that doesn’t make me one.

Many of these people have never been to our service because if they had been here, they would know that many times before I pray for some people, sometimes I even call doctors to verify their cases. So, if I’m fake are the doctors also fake? Or are they referring to the case of the late famous actor, Enebeli Elebuwa, where they said he claimed I didn’t heal him?
The video they were circulating on YouTube was not from us in the first place. Second, when they brought the actor sometime in 2010 or so, I prayed for him. He was not just healed. He came back and did thanksgiving. We have the video. Then, he went back to location only for him to claim in 2012 or so I didn’t heal him.

But the movies he was doing after he came to our church were not shot on his sick bed. The fact you were healed of malaria does not mean you can’t have malaria again. The facts are there. I never said once you were healed, you wouldn’t be sick again, all your life. Even Jesus didn’t do that. Jesus would say, ‘go and sin no more, less a worst thing will come upon you.’

When asked to describe himself, he said “Someone that loves Jesus like mad. That’s Dr. Sign Fireman. I was born again at the age of five. My mother was born again in 1967. My grandmother was born again in 1950s. My great grandmother was involved in ministry of Mary Slessor, the missionary. I have been preaching in churches since the age of seven, I wrote my first book at 14. I have been holding miracle crusades, hiring grounds, stadia from the age of 19. So, if someone says the miracles are fake, so, why are they coming?

On why there are so many celebrities in his church, he said, “The Bible says we should preach the gospel to every creature. The celebrities, as you call them, are all part of God’s creature. I love everybody. And people, no matter their status, respond to love. This is the only church I know where part of the offering of the previous Sunday is shared among the poor. Which church does that? Last year, I gave out all my property as seed. I brought them to church for my congregation. I can show you the pictures. No matter what people say about you, your life speaks. That is just the truth.

The happily married pastor further talked about his marriage “The sweetest thing about being married…the Bible says two is better than one. The Bible says it is not good for a man to be alone. So, He gave Adam a helper, Eve. Marriage is meant to add help to what you are already doing. To say that she is really enjoying me is an understatement. When you come on Sunday, you will see her for yourself and by yourself.”
