Planning Kefee's burial hurts like hell!

The burial arrangement for late gospel singer, Irikefe Obareki Don-Momoh (aka Kefee) has been announced by the Kefee Memorial Committee (a coalition of Kefee’s family and friends in the Gospel Music & Entertainment Industry) on behalf of her family. 
Kefee will be laid to rest at her hometown, Okpara Inland in Delta State on Friday 11th July.
One of the planning committee members, Nikki Laoye says "Kefee's Burial arrangements as announced by Kefee Memorial Committee for the family. Am a part of this committee and i tell u its been super hard, helping her hubby & family to plan my sister's burial. It hurts like hell. But we rest on God's love and grace at this time... Its well. Pls pray hard for her parents and her hubby Teddy.. Its a big blow, big wound indeed!!
So sad :(

'Half of a Yellow Sun' will premier locally

Film distributors say "Half of a Yellow Sun" will premier in Nigeria Aug. 1 after months of delay because censors warned it could undermine national security and demanded cuts and edits.

It was unclear what changes were made to satisfy the censors. The movie is partly set during Nigeria's 1960s civil war, which remains a sensitive subject. And it comes as the country confronts an Islamic uprising that again threatens to tear it apart as tensions increase between Muslims and Christians in Africa's most populous nation.

The movie has been cleared for viewing by people over 18 years old.

Producers Shareman media and FilmOne Distribution thanked Nigerians for their patience in a statement Tuesday. The movie starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton was to premier in April.

There is no forcing in Islam but some of them not Muslims are converting to Islam but we are not differentiating them. If you see them now, you would see they don’t have any problem. Under Islam, killing children and women is not accepted you understand, but if they are fighting you, then you must fight them but if they are not fighting you, then it is not accepted weather they are Muslims or non-Muslims. Do not fight them, it is not accepted but if you bomb somewhere or make arrest somewhere, it will affect them but killing children and women is not accepted” 

An anonymous member of the dreaded Boko haram sect said this to Tobi Oladipo of BBC World radio today.

Castro minutes before he drowned trying to save female friend

Popular Ghanaian Hiplife musician, Castro (a.k.a Theophilus Tagoe) reportedly drowned yesterday in the Aqua safari beach while trying to rescue his girlfriend.
Castro, his girlfriend and a close friend (who is also a footballer for the Black Stars), Asamoah Gyan, had gone on a weekend rendezvous when the unfortunate incident happened.

According to GhanaWeb, Castro had taken one of the boats out on a cruise on the Volta Lake alongside his girlfriend, while the others continued with their relaxation at shore.
The lady, who was not wearing a life jacket, suddenly fell into the lake, prompting Castro to try to rescue her, but ended up drowning with her.
Castro’s body and his girlfriend’s are yet to be found but his ski has been found.
Until his death, he was famous for his hit track “sikletele”

Joan Rivers calls Barack Obama gay

American comedienne, Joan Rivers, has caused controversy yet again after she claimed that U.S. president Barack Obama is gay and that his wife, Michelle, is a transsexual, CNN reports.

Rivers, who was officiating a same sex wedding, was asked by a photographer if she thought that the U.S. would ever have a gay president and she responded by saying that they already have that with Obama and that everyone knows that Michelle is a transsexual.

Following the outcry after her comments, Rivers commented to CNN, that she thinks it is a compliment to Michelle as “the most gorgeous women are transgender”.

The Red Cross Society of Nigeria has unveiled 2face Idibia as an ambassador for the organisation, reports Nigerian Entertainment Today(NET)
 
This was revealed at a press conference to highlight the recent collaboration between the Red Cross Society of Nigeria and the 2face Reach-Out Foundation initiative. 

The Hypertek Music boss is involved in different music projects to raise awareness and funds for areas in the country that are experiencing disasters and conflicts.

British Opera opens in Nigerian cinema

The British Council is patnering with FilmHouse Cinemas to bring  British Opera productions to the screens.

The productions will be screened at selected FilmHouse Cinemas across the country from July 2014 starting with Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes.

The screening days are from July 25 to July 31 in FilmHouse Cinemas in Lagos, Ibadan and Calabar.

GOTV has appointed popular Nollywood comic actor John Okafor also known as  Mr Ibu as Brand Ambassador in Nigeria, reports PM News

Elizabeth Amkpa, General Manager, GOtv Nigeria, said that Mr Ibu's strong acceptance by a wide audience was the main reason he was chosen.

The endorsement deal means that he will feature in GOtv’s future commercials, make special guest appearances at GOtv launch events and promote the brand among GOtv’s grassroots audience, amongst other activities.
