Man steals bread truck, makes deliveries

A man in New York City on Monday stole a bread truck, but astonishingly decided to keep the deliveries going – but to the wrong people.

David Bastar reportedly jumped in the Grimaldi's Home of Bread truck in Manhattan while the actual Grimaldi’s employee was making a delivery to a pizzeria, Huffington Post reports.

Bastar then made a couple of deliveries dressed in only his undies, as you normally would on a day you steal a bread truck.

He was later arrested at LaGuardia Airport where he may or may not have attempted to make an international bread delivery.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are officially "Bound" to each other.

The celebrity couple, who have made a habit of over-the-top, public displays of affection, got hitched Saturday in a decidedly private spot: a Renaissance fortress in Florence.

The nuptials were confirmed to The Associated Press by Kardashian's representative, who noted the reporting of E! Online, the news site from the network that carries her reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

E! Online reported the wedding party consisted of her sisters, while stepfather Bruce Jenner walked her down the aisle. Andrea Bocelli and John Legend sang for the couple at the reception.

The city's mayor's office had said a week earlier that the couple had rented Belvedere Fort for a wedding to be performed by a Protestant minister, adding a flurry of excitement in the entertainment world about the ceremony, which had been anticipated for months.

In the days before the nuptials, the pair held court in Paris, parading in front of photographers for pre-wedding festivities. Kardashian posted a picture on the social media site Instagram of the gardens of fashion designer Valentino's 17th-century Chateau de Wideville west of Paris, where one of their events was being held. The couple also toured the Chateau of Versailles.

The duo, who have one child together, were not shy about their romance; he briefly appeared on her reality show, and he gushed about his love for her in a talk show hosted by her mother, Kris Jenner. A topless Kardashian also starred in his music video for "Bound 2," in which they simulated having sex on a motorcycle bike.

West, 36, proposed to Kardashian, 33, in October on her birthday. He rented out San Francisco's AT&T Park to pop the question.

But when it came to the wedding, media was only able to get photos of the many celebrity guests at the wedding.

Among the notables sighted arriving in Florence ahead of the nuptials were Steve McQueen, director of Oscar-winner "12 Years a Slave"; Lala Anthony, wife of NY Knicks basketball star Carmelo Anthony; Jaden Smith, the actor and teenage son of Will and Jada Smith; and Joe Francis of "Girls Gone Wild" video fame.

The nuptials drew crowds of fans eager to witness the glitzy event, but they were kept far away from the heavily-walled 16th century fortress, which offers stunning views of Florence and surrounding Tuscan hills.

The rapper was recently quoted in the Florence newspaper La Nazione as saying he and Kardashian had come here previously incognito and he believed that their daughter, North, was conceived "among the Renaissance masterpieces." The baby was born in June 2013.

It is the first marriage for West, and the third for Kardashian. Her last marriage, to professional basketball player Kris Humphries, in 2011, lasted 72 days. That ceremony was featured in a two-part TV special.

The city's mayor's office last week had said that the $420 000 rental fee for the fort would help fund restorations of Florence's art treasures.

Rob bails on Kim’s wedding and flies back to L.A. in tears!

It seems like Brody Jenner wasn't the only Kardashian-Jenner family member not in attendance at Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West.

Also missing from the festivities was Kim's younger brother Rob, 27, who bailed on the ceremony at the last minute.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly that Rob flew out of Paris, France, on Saturday morning a few hours ahead of his sister's much buzzed-about nuptials in Florence, Italy.

According to TMZ Rob booked a flight from Florence to L.A in a hurry and was apparently in tears while desperately trying to secure a seat.

"After I pulled him out, Suge starts yelling at him, ‘Pac! Pac!’ And he just keeps yelling it. And the guy I’m holding is trying to yell back at him. He’s sitting up and he’s struggling to get the words out, but he can’t really do it. And as Suge is yelling ‘Pac!,’ I look down and I realize that this is Tupac Shakur.

"So I’m looking at Tupac, and I’m asking him, ‘Who shot you? What happened? Who did it?’ And he was just kind of ignoring me. He was making eye contact with me here and there, but he’s trying to yell at Suge. And I kept asking over and over, ‘Who did this? Who shot you?’ And he basically kept ignoring me. And then I saw in his face, in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed. And he went from struggling to speak, being noncooperative, to an ‘I’m at peace’ type of thing. Just like that.
“He went from fighting to ‘I can’t do it.’ And when he made that transition, he looked at me, and he’s looking right in my eyes. And that’s when I looked at him and said one more time, ‘Who shot you?’
“He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out:‘Fuck you.’
“After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness. At that point, an ambulance showed up, and he went into unconsciousness."

“As soon as he got to the hospital, he went into surgery and was heavily sedated, and I guess he went into a coma and really never came out of that, until they took him off of life support. So that moment I talked to him was his last real living moment where he was speaking. I talked to the cop who rode in the ambulance with him. He said Tupac never came out of it, and he never said anything at the hospital. There was nothing else.”

My dad died a broke man — Charlie Boy recounts last moments with Late Justice Oputa

In a recent interview session with selected journalists, Charlie Boy spoke on his father’s death, burial plans and what Chukwudife Oputa, retired justice, stood for, among other issues.

See excerpts below:

Do you wish God kept your father a little bit longer?Before Nko, but his time was up and he had to answer the call. He lived a good life. He was outstanding, totally different and I am so very proud that he was my father. Even though in the beginning I rebelled against all he stood for, it all eventually caught up with me. As I matured over the years, I found out that he had done me so much good. For sure I’m going to miss him like mad, but I have wonderful memories to tie me over.

What does your tradition expect of you from now till your dad is buried? Are you to stay indoors 40days? Cut your hair? What is now expected of you, or any other member of the male/female Oputas?I am not too knowledgeable about the traditional aspect, my relatives in the village have not told me about any specific things I should do. For now, all I am doing is planning and receiving guests who come to sympathise with the family. My father will first be buried as a Christian and a Knight in the church. He holds the title of (Odua) the oldest man in the village. Tradition says, he will require a second burial a year after the first, that’s the much I know. I shaved my hair way before he passed on, he loved my new look.

At the point when you wrote the prayer request letter for your dad, did you harbour any fears that your father may be spending his last days on earth?He was in the village when he was hit by stroke on the 14th of February, 2014. At about 3:30pm, I got a call from one of his aids informing me of what had happened. It was a Friday; one of my daughters had just come back from the US a few days before. So, I sent her and my brother immediately to Owerri to assess the situation till I got myself together and arrived on Monday. My brother, I didn’t sleep from Friday to Monday morning. I was in a trance, the worse seized my mind. I cried when I was alone, in my household it was as if he had already passed, my father had never been sick, ever! It was the most painful time in my life; the thought of losing my father, my best friend was too much to deal with. But typical me, by Monday as I headed to the airport to catch the flight to Owerri, I was mentally ready for the worst. By the time I saw my father in the hospital, I was devastated, it took all the courage to hold back the tears. Then I knew it was down hill from there. I knew it was a matter of time, but I was ever determined to do all I could for my best friend. Since childhood I have always had that sharp instinct, intuition or premonition about things and people. I should have been dead long time ago, living the kind of life I had lived, but I have survived because of this gift from God.

Seeing him helpless those harrowing weeks, what went on in your mind?A lot of pain. Ever since I can remember, I have never seen my father down. I have never seen him sick. I prayed that God shouldn’t let him suffer one bit. I couldn’t stand the fact that we could no longer have the kind of robust discussions we used to have. Most of the time he was quiet, and I will always wonder what’s going through his mind. God has been kind to our family, He made his passage peaceful and I am thankful.

Were you beside your father when he spent his last moments on earth?He died in my house, too bad it wasn’t in my arms. After the hospital stabilised him, we were advised by the doctors to take him home and give him the care he needed to nurse him back to life. But I knew that age was not on his side. My father was over 96years. On Sunday the 4th of May 2014, I went down to his quarters to see him. He had not been eating properly. As I went on my usual round to see him and crack a few jokes before I go do my thing, I noticed he was unusually weak. As soon as I entered his room, he beckoned on me to come. I bent over to kiss his forehead and he said to me “Am sorry Charles”.

Why did he say that? Did he regret not being there for you when you really needed him?I asked him why he was sorry. I couldn’t imagine that with his state of health, all my father was thinking about was all the money I was spending to give him the best care and the love I showered on him. He was worrying about me? Hummmm. At that point I just laughed and said to him, “daddy, get well soon so that I won’t send you a bill you cannot pay”. I asked the nurse to give him his bath, while I go and do same and come back to feed him myself. I was just getting dressed after my bath when the nurse called me to say I should come down quickly. At that point I knew what I have been getting myself ready for, has finally happened. I thank God that I not only spent quality time with him, we became almost inseparable.

What were his last words before he passed on?‘I’m sorry Charles’. I had just left his side about an hour to have my shower when I heard the man had given up. I rushed back to where he was and found him dead. He had prepared my mind for this few weeks before his death when he told me to stop spending money on his health; he was literally telling me his time was up. I told him I wasn’t complaining about it, why should he be bothered about it, but his response was just Charles, I am sorry.

Did he write his will and how are you sure it won’t cause any hitch among the family members?That’s funny you know. It is a man who has what to share that writes a will. My dad did not have anything much because he was not a corrupt man when he was serving as Judge of the Supreme Court. He died a broke man because he didn’t want to toe the path that would bring shame to the family and rubbish his integrity in any way. He taught his children what they needed when he was alive, which are uprightness and education. He lived with me before he died, so there is nothing to share because there is nothing in the first place. My brother, I am not sure of any will.

Tell us about the concert you plan to stage for your late father?My father without a doubt was a great man. He’s the last of the Titans. When people who come to see me and say sorry to me, I correct them by demanding they say congrats to me. Here is a man who has led a good life, who stood for justice especially for the common man, who stuck to one wife for over 70yrs. I’m having Nollywood come down to Oguta, the cream of Nigerian musicians, The Hard Riders Biker Club from Port Harcourt, Nigerians will be there. I expect Daddy Showkey, Felix Duke, TerryG, Dr Alban, Davido, Duncan Mighty, Indeed it will be a grand celebration of a damn good life. People go bow, dem go hear am.

What will you miss most about him?I will actually miss a lot of things about him. I don’t know if you can get it if you have never been there. I loved my father to bits, he was like my hero. He dared to be different like me; he was like no other, like me. I will miss our regular evening provoking conversations, when he would come over to my part of the house, as I serve him his small stout while I drink my coke and we would talk endlessly about many things under the sun. I will miss his company especially all the times he accompanied me to different shows. Full of wisecracks, he made life’s journey so simple and uncomplicated, he exemplified the significance of life. Head or tail, I know he indisputably deserves the heavenly gift of paradise.

How do you feel being fatherless?I have joined the club of the fatherless people. I hope that one day they will make me their president. If you know how close we became, you will feel very sorry for me. But I’m up to the challenge. Now I have my mother to concentrate on. She was my first love anyway before my father got into my good books. So, all the love and care will be transferred to her full time. Thank God I’m not an orphan yet, that would have been a serious problem.

What are those fine qualities you inherited from your father?We stood for justice especially for the common man. We were both deep thinkers. We are both men who are content and at peace with self. We are both committed to changing our environment. We love our wives dearly, my father till his death spent over 70yrs with the same woman, I have spent 37yrs still counting. We have strong love for our family and always very protective. My father wasn’t phased with or by material things, same here. We love to read and learn. When we were younger we both used to be such flirts. We both believe in one man one woman. We both are very spiritual beings.

A popular musician, Banky W, on Thursday advised celebrities to support candidates that had the interest of the people at heart during the coming general elections.

Banky W said that celebrities were opinion molders and had followers who they could influence to vote during elections.

"I will only support a candidate if I truly believe that he is the right person for a job. It should be a responsible choice and not for sale,'' said the musician born as Bankole Wellington.

"Electing a leader is a very personal decision for any citizen and that should still remain a very important and significant decision for each person to make responsibly and not just the celebrities.’’

Banky W said that he took active part in getting people to register to vote during the last general elections due to his belief that young people should have interest in the process of selecting their leaders.

The artiste promised to mobilise youths to participate in the 2015 general elections, adding that he might even go as far as endorsing a particular person for the presidency.

Banky W is a popular R and B artiste based in Lagos, who has been active in the Nigerian music industry since 2004, with various hit songs to his name.

He is also co-owner of the Indie record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E).

Snippet: Rapper Wale’s duet with Olamide

It is no longer news that American rapper, Wale, will be visiting Nigeria at the end of May, what should excite rap heads, at both end of the seas, is his collaboration with Olamide.

An Instagram picture of the duo was put up by Wale a while back, and now a snippet from their soon to be released song has been uploaded on Instagram by both artists

The Maybach Music Group rapper wrote on his Instagram page on Tuesday". ‘Me and @Kingbaddo droppin somethin soon.”

Oritse Femi teams up with D'banj for double wahala

Oritse Femi will be unveiling the remix of his hit single, 'Double Wahala', which features Koko master, D'banj at the Pulse VIP Night, reports Pulse.ng

The premiering of Double Wahala, will happen on Friday at The Place by Marcus in Victoria Island.

This will be the first time, the duo will collaborate on a track.

D’banj to perform at 2014 World Music Awards

Music superstar D’banj will perform alongside Mariah Carey and Miley Cyrus at the 2014 World Music Awards, reports Bellanaija

The international award will take place on May 27 in Monte Carlo, Monaco, France.

Ice Prince goes after Jonathan

Rapper Ice Prince, who grew up in Jos, flared up at President Goodluck Jonathan, after the twin bombings that rocked the north central city.

IcePrince expressed his reservations in full blast, two days after the incident.

Two bombs went off in the city of Jos, on May 21, killing about 200 people.

Chocolate City to sign new artistes

Music label, Chocolate City have moved passed the loss of musician, Brymo, are set to sign two new artists in the coming weeks, reports Premium Times

The label which has, rapper Ice Prince; singer, Nosa; and DJ Caise in their fold, has officially announced this new development through the label’s president, Audu Maikori.

Maikori also confirmed that rapper MI will be releasing his third studio album, while Ice prince will release a mixtape.
