Bieber released after private jet searched for drugs

Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber was allowed re-entry into the United States on Friday after a brief detention during which US Customs officials used drug-sniffing dogs to search his private jet, according to a US law enforcement source briefed on the incident.

No illegal drugs were found on the plane and no charges were brought, but the young singer and his fellow passengers were questioned for several hours, said the source.The search of the plane was undertaken after US customs officials believed they smelled marijuana on some of Bieber's entourage.

It was not immediately clear who or how many other passengers were on the plane that touched down at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport.

A Port Authority spokesperson said his agency was notified at 20:20 local time (01:20 GMT) that Bieber had been released from US Customs and had no further comment.Earlier Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office charged a friend of Bieber's with drug possession in connection with a raid last month on the singer's home in Calabasas, California, about 48km northeast of Los Angeles.

Xavier Smith, 20, better known as rapper Lil Za, was charged with possession of MDMA and oxycodone and vandalising the Los Angeles County Sheriff's jail where he was held, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesperson for the district attorney.

Bieber, 19, was arrested last week in Miami Beach on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.The Canadian was also charged on Wednesday with assaulting a limousine driver in Toronto.

“Nobody is going to surprise me anymore. Let me then announce to the whole world that I already have a five-year old son. I had the boy since 2008 before I released my debut album, ‘Mushin 2 Mo’Hits’. I have been keeping it secret ever since then but I think its high time people should know,”

“It was my desire to grow and build my own brand, Black Diamond that made me quit Mavin Records. There is no beef at all. I would have done that when Mo’Hit crisis occurred but the love that I have for my other label mates then made me stay a while to nurture my own project. People can now take a course studying Beyoncé at university

Beyoncé is one of the world's most scrutinised pop stars, and now that study is moving to academia.

The Department of Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University is offering a course called "Politicising Beyoncé".

Kevin Allred, a doctoral student who is teaching the class, tells the university's online news site that he is using Beyoncé's career as a way to explore American race, gender and sexual politics.The class supplements an analysis of Beyoncé's videos and lyrics with readings from Black feminists.

Allred says he's seeking to help students think more critically about media consumption.Rutgers also has a class examining the theology of Bruce Springsteen's lyrics.Georgetown University has a class called "The Sociology of Hip-Hop: The Urban Theodicy of Jay-Z", focusing on Beyoncé's rapper husband.

While performing at the second anniversary edition of the monthly Loud ‘N’ Proud Live music concert which held at Soul Lounge, Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos on Thursday, January 30th, 2014, Ice Prince made a revelation about his past relationship with promising female rapper Eva Alordiah.

Before kicking off his performance, the rapper (who’s known for taking his time to give shout outs) revealed that Eva was the first girlfriend he had when he came to Lagos back in 2008.

‘Let me tell you something I’ve never said before in public,‘ Ice Prince announced as he pulled Eva from her seat onto the stage. ‘Eva was the first girlfriend I had when I came to Lagos; that was way back.‘A surprised looking Eva then grabbed the mic, laughed and said, ‘I don’t know what he’s talking about.‘

Eva was strongly affiliated with M.I and the Loopy crew back in 2008 and 2009, right about when M.I released his debut album ‘Talk About It‘.

Dogs’ death leads to communal clash in Ilorin

The Police Command in Kwara  says it has   arrested 10  people over a fracas that broke out at Abayawo area of  IIorin metropolis  on Wednesday.

The News Agency of  Nigeria (NAN) reports that some  residents,  including a police officer, were wounded in the incident  which lasted  several  hours.

The command’s spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the arrest in an interview with NAN.He, however, said no life was lost in the incident while those injured had been conveyed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

NAN  reports  that the ever- busy Abayawo-Okelele road was deserted on Wednesday  while  scores of policemen were sighted  keeping vigil in the area.Pupils in  public and private schools in the area  rushed home  as a result of the fracas  while  social and economic activities were  paralysed .

An eye witness  said that the fracas was caused by the killing of  a hunter’s dog  by a car belonging to a resident of  Abayawo.
