I was at a client's house in Nyanya when I heard the thunderous sound. My client said it was a gun shot, I thought it was the tyre of a vehicle. Before you know it, we saw smoke in the air and almost immediately phone calls started coming in. In no time it was confirmed to be a bomb blast. A friend who was on the way to the house from travel to the East, got to the scene some minutes after the explosion and called to find out where I was. I thought, who should be more worried?
It was really another bomb blast. Eye witnesses said the vehicle loaded with explosives was hurriedly parked by the driver and three occupants alighted from it and ran into the crowed before the car went up in flames.
The road was sealed. I was lucky not to have driven to my client's place, because there was no road to drive through after the explosion. Security agents were trouping in from all angles with blaring sirens. People were stranded, angry and crying for the deceased. Everybody is scared now. They have finally come to Abuja.
I left the scene on a bike with a fellow Nigerian and I was able to find my way home.
May God help Nigeria and may the souls of those that died rest in peace.
Amen
