Apostle Suleman finally honours DSS invite
Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, has finally arrived the Abuja office of the Department of State Services, DSS.
DSS had invited him for questioning over ‘inciting’ comments he made against Fulani herdsmen.
“He is there now. Those who accompanied him include some Governors, Ministers. I cannot disclose names now.
“But during the day, some leaders of CAN and PFN held series of meeting with Apostle. I’m not sure they will be at the interrogation room.” a source said.
Asked why the meeting fixed for 10am delayed for hours, the source said this was because “the DG of DSS will be the one to personally question Apostle hence the shift in time.”
It was gathered that the DSS, despite already mounted barricades, has further cordoned off its complex stretching about a kilometre.
Also, security personnel in front of the Yellow House, was increased.
This may not be uncconected with expectation that Apostle Suleman’s supporters may storm the vicinity.
Earlier on Monday, Suleman stated the DSS did the right thing by inviting him for interrogation.
Suleman, who stated this while briefing newsmen in Abuja, said “I presume the right thing was done. They have been in touch with me to come and that is why I am in Abuja, so that I can see them”.
According to him, his recent statement where he asked his members to kill any herdsman around his church was based on information from a reliable source that herdsmen were coming to attack him.
He said that he stood by his statement on self defence.
“I was talking in my personal capacity on information from a reliable source that certain people in the capacity of herdsmen were coming to attack me and I told the people around me that if it happens they should defend themselves”, he said.

The Lebanese-British lawyer was spotted with her actor husband at the Los Angeles airport as the couple returned after recent trips to Switzerland and England.
At the airport too, 38-year-old Amal was spotted wearing loose clothing. Elegant as usual, she sported a grey baggy sweater underneath a heavy beige-hued coat as she strutted down the airport. She had her wavy locks loose, and teamed her casual attire with a black pageboy cap.

According to the InTouch report, "[George's] gone from never wanting to be a father to being totally excited about Amal's pregnancy and the thought of raising two children who will call him Dad."
"He's been doting on Amal's every need and talking to her belly. He's also having a blast coming up with baby names," an alleged source told the magazine. The pregnancy news, however, is yet to be confirmed by the celebrity couple

People shoud mind their business, my marriage is still intact for now – Actress Uche Elendu
A lot has been said about Nollywood actress, Uche Elendu’s three- year- old marriage.
Many people have speculated that the marriage had since hit the rocks due to infidelity on the path of the actress, while some others claimed that her husband, Ogochukwu Igweanyiba, is the unfaithful one.
You also recall that last year, news broke that Uche Elendu’s husband had gifted his alleged mistress, former beauty queen, Sandra Chichi Ekwosiobi pictured above, a 2016 benz.
Their relationship was brought to fore after the beauty queen posted pictures of a brand new Mercedes Benz GL 2016, she claimed was gifted to her by her lover who was finally revealed to be Uche's husband.
However, in a chat with Saturday Beats, the actress said that she was surprised that other people are the ones telling her that her marriage is in crisis.
According to the damsel, her marriage is intact and
everything is perfect “for now.”
Uche told Saturday Beats: “There is nothing happening. My marriage is intact. People are entitled to their opinion and they are allowed to dwell in other people’s marriage and tell them what is going on because as far as I am concerned, they are the ones telling me that my marriage has hit the rocks because I am not aware.
It has always been my motto not to bring my personal life to the public. The things that are supposed to be made public are made public and those things that should be private are kept private.
When I was getting married, I made it public so when I am tired of my marriage or when my marriage does not work for me anymore, I would let them know. But for now, they are telling me and I am just listening. By God’s grace everything is fine with my marriage. For now, everything is perfect.
“I don’t comment when people lay claims that my marriage is in trouble because I see such as idle talk. I don’t know why people derive so much pleasure in meddling in my business and private life.
Whether what they say is true or not, I don’t think it is anybody’s business. I don’t have any business replying them because I don’t owe them that explanation. Whatever I go through in my marriage, I pass through alone and nobody is with me when I go through them. Whatever I gain from my marriage, I gain alone so what is the point?” she said.
How my mother saved me from committing suicide out of poverty – Mr. Ibu
John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu in a new interview, has revealed that he would have taken his life since 1997 due to the hardship he faced in life.
According to him, at that point in his life, things were so hard that he could barely afford to feed himself. To make matters worse, the actor said he had no roof over his head and suicide seemed like the easiest option.
He told Saturday Beats: “Do you know that there was a day that I had prepared to kill myself in Ajao Estate? That day, I was prepared to jump into a well because of the situation that surrounded me.
Three days before that day, I had not eaten and I did not have hope of eating for the next week. I was only surviving on water and I hate it when I bother anyone.
Most of my close friends were not bothered about my well-being even though it was obvious that I was not alright. I remember December 18, 1997, a friend of mine who I squatted with called me in the morning and told me that he would be going home for Christmas and he did not want anyone to be in his room.
I assured him that no one would come to his place but he said he wanted me out of the room. I told him that I did not have another place to stay and he should trust me that as usual, I would take good care of the place. Though I was older than him, I did all the washing and cleaning of the house to the extent that I washed his panties and underwear.
I did that so that I could have a roof over my head. But out of anger, that my friend went into the house, brought out all my things and threw them outside, then he told me to leave his house, he locked his door and left.
“From where I was seated, I was looking at the well. I thought to myself, ‘is it not better to end my life by jumping into the well so that when people return in the evening and they need water, they would discover my body and my friend would know that he was the reason I committed suicide?’
I went to the well and as I opened the lid and prepared to jump inside, the image of my mother’s face flashed through my mind. I quickly closed the well and began to wonder how my mother knew that I wanted to kill myself.
My mother was still alive at the time; she was about 80 years old. I went back and leaned by the wall. A neighbour, Francis, was playing a song by Michael Bolton titled ‘When I am back on my Feet Again.’ The song gave me hope and I decided to stay alive,” he said.
Okafor said that after he had decided against killing himself, he needed to find somewhere to sleep and since he had no one to stay with; he opted to sleep under a lorry, a space where dogs used as their house.
He stayed there for a while till God sent a helper to him.
“I cleaned the place and was able to get some cartons which I used to do a tent. In the course of cleaning the place, I realised that it was dogs that used to sleep there at night but I had no choice.
One night, about 30 dogs were barking so no one could sleep so I had to move my cartons to another location. While I was changing my bearing, I saw some people gathering. I hid my cartons, went close to the place and saw that it was a movie audition. I saw some of my friends there like Pete Edochie, and a friend called Sandra Ezeh.
When Sandra saw me, she hugged me and said she was a big fan of my work especially my role in ‘Ikuku.’ She asked if I was doing anything and when I told her I wasn’t, she insisted that I accompany her to see her boyfriend.
Since I had no job, I followed her; beside, all I needed then was food. I was so hungry at the time that it began to affect my eye sight. Sadly, her boyfriend had travelled so she said we should go to see another friend.
We met the woman who owned a bar and when I asked for food, she said all she had was pepper soup and drinks. I told her to give me pepper soup and she was nice enough to tell them to give me two agidi with the pepper soup. After I ate the food, I fell into a deep sleep.
“When I woke up, I saw an address, 125 Adetola Street, then immediately, I remembered that a friend had called me asking me to stay in his house because he was travelling to Germany and that was the address.
Immediately I crossed the street and went to the house. When I got into the house, my friend, Frank, just got in from London. He was so happy to see me that he hugged me and we both fell to the ground. He then said that no matter where I was staying, I had to move into his house.
We went to pick my load from where I put it. Frank asked why my load was outside and I lied to him that I was preparing to travel. That was how he gave me a room in his flat. I prayed to God thanking him for saving me. He started taking me out and buying me clothes. It was from there I got my footing,” he said.

Prophet Olagunroye Faleyimu doesn't regret his negative prophecies on Funke Akindele'
The founder of Mountain of Blessing and Miracle Church of Christ, Dr. Olagorioye Faleyimu, in December 2016 made shocking prophecies for 2017.
Among the prophecies was that Nollywood actress Funke Akindele needs serious prayers in order to have children.
In a new interview with Encomium, the prophet says he has no regrets over his prophecy despite the backlash he got from many Nigerians.
According to him, he is an anointed prophet whose calling is to deliver message as sent by God and
move on. That he has been cursed by people in the past over prophecies he made but at the end of it all, all he said will come to pass.
Excerpts below:
Recently, social media was agog with your prophecy over star actress Funke Akindele which you said if she’s not very prayerful, she may not have a child and this has attracted a lot of condemnation within and outside the entertainment industry. What do you have t say about this?
Yes, it’s God that revealed to me that she’s destined to be famous and wealthy but no child. But if she’s very prayerful, she will eventually break the yoke of barrenness and become a mother. And that same message has also been repeated.
Even, if she doesn’t seek the face of God, her enemies don’t want her to have a stable home despite the fact that she has remarried. That means the marriage can still crash unless she’s prayerful.
God has also repeated it this year, that for her to have a child, she needs to be closer to God. People are now attacking me here and there that why did I say that? Some said I should have written a letter to her or invited her privately instead of making it public. But I am not a kind of prophet that predicts because of money.
I am an anointed prophet. My calling is to deliver message as sent by God. But some people don’t know the difference between prophets and anointed ones. It’s in the Bible and Qur’an how the prophets of God operate. They’re not prophets of nowadays that only came to collect money from the government, high and mighty in the society and others.
As a prophet, deliver God’s message and move on. You don’t need to be on anybody’s neck.
I read in one of these Yoruba magazines that Funke Akindele is waging spiritual war against me because of the prophecy; nothing can happen to … God didn’t send me. I don’t regret on what I said. All she needs is to pray very well, I have nothing against her.
I am 40 years as a prophet. That means I have been predicting since 40 years ago and I have never regretted any of my prophecies. I am used to all these criticisms about my prophecies. Even, at times, some would curse me but at the end of it all, all I said will come to pass.
When I revealed what God told me about TB Joshua, some people commented that I wanted to collect money from him, but I think everybody saw it when he escaped death in 2014. Some were saying TB Joshua was supposed to have seen it before it happened.
I am a farmer and I am contented. But my calling is to deliver God’s message to His people and I shouldn’t be afraid of anybody irrespective of his or her position.
In 2009, when God sent me to theatre practitioners that 25 of them would die, unless they pray, they called me fraudster, claiming I wanted to use the prophecy to extort them. But when it happened most of them said they would sue me. They called me fake prophet, but the death didn’t stop until they were 25.
Some said before election in 2015 that Buhari can never rule Nigeria again but Buhari is ruling now which I had earlier predicted.

This is wrong ..Ray J threatens to sue Celebrity Big Brother if they don't let him back in the house
Ray J has threatened to sue Celebrity Big Brother producers if they don't put him back in the house.
He was ejected from the house following incessant complaints of tooth problems and he claims he is currently fighting producers to let him back onto the show.In a video call with TMZ,asked if he is considering suing, he said:
"I'd never like to do that because I'm a producer as well and I like to be on the same page with everybody. But this is just not fair and if I have to take those precautions, I will.
"I don't even care about my tooth, put me back in the house and let me work. This isn't right. It's wrong bro, it's wrong. I'm going to drive myself to the dentist and get my tooth fixed and then pull back up to the house and try to get back in.
"I have a bad tooth problem and I've been doing this show, Celebrity Big Brother , in London for about seven and a half days now. I've been complaining about my tooth for three and a half days.
"It got to the point where some of the housemates in the house felt like I was being ignored. We took petitions to say we're not doing anymore tasks until Ray J 's tooth gets fixed.I've got a cracked tooth where I need a filling fixed. I've got a gum coming over my other tooth and I'm in a lot of pain. So after three and a half days with all this pain, they decided to take me out but I blacked out. I end up in the hospital. For 45 minutes, they give me some nutrition and I eat some McDonalds and I'm cool, I'm literally fine.I'm ready to go back into the house and they won't let me back in and I'm really hurt by it because I felt like I was doing well and connecting with the British public and it just sucks because I was having such a good time. And for me, being ignored about my tooth, I blanked out and I'm still not in the dentist but I can't go back on the show so I'm going back to the hotel."

Amazing transformation - Guy proudly shows off his loose skin after loosing 180 pounds
Obese young man turned fitness guru,John David Glaude has been showing off his amazing transformation on Instagram .According to him, it's all thanks to fitness and no surgery was involved and he is proud of his loose skin. He wrote
..I understand that when most people see this picture, the first thing they notice is my "loose skin" That's completely understandable! Loose skin is interesting to me, because so many people are afraid of it, or they have it and are ashamed of it.
Now, do I have days where I struggle with it? Absolutely! I will always say that I enjoy my life SO MUCH more now that I have this "loose skin" compared to when I was obese. I truly didn't feel like I was living, just existing when I was 360 pounds.
Does EVERYONE feel like that? I can't say! All I can say and speak on is my experience! Personally I see my loose skin as a battle scar!
This loose skin can tell my journey of losing 180 pounds without me speaking a word! The point of this post is to show you guys that loose skin is NOTHING to be afraid of! Do I feel like I need to "cut it off"?
No, I personally am able to live a perfectly normal life dealing with it! Again, I understand that everyone's journey is different, and I see NOTHING wrong with someone getting surgery on their loose skin! Remember, transformation happens one rep at a time, and with enough determination and commitment we can all go from #obesetobeast!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

China Engineers create beautiful female robot that communicates with Human Beings (
Chinese engineers have continued to improve on the Jia Jia project as the robot recently identified with human beings and responded to simple conversations during an exhibition.
Jia Jia
"Jia Jia" can hold a simple conversation and make specific facial expressions when asked, and her creator believes the eerily life-like robot heralds a future of cyborg labour in China.
Billed as China's first human-like robot, Jia Jia was first trotted out last year by a team of engineers at the University of Science and Technology of China.
Team leader, Chen Xiaoping sounded like a proud father as he and his prototype appeared Monday at an economic conference organised by banking giant UBS in Shanghai's futuristic financial centre.
Chen predicted that perhaps within a decade artificially intelligent (AI) robots like Jia Jia will begin performing a range of menial tasks in Chinese restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals and households.
"In 5-10 years there will be a lot of applications for robots in China," Chen said.
With flowing black hair and dressed in a traditional Chinese dress, Jia Jia looks strikingly real. Yet her charm has its limits and simple questions frequently stump her.
Still, Chen said his team has made great progress over the past two years in developing her AI.
She was able accurately to answer a query about the day's weather, hold basic conversations and recognise the gender of her questioners.
"You are a handsome man," she complimented one, but when asked later if she has a boyfriend, replied, "I prefer to stay single."
Rapid advancements are being made in artificial intelligence and such products stole the limelight at last week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
A range of products were unveiled that can respond to voice commands to play music at home and follow other remote-control orders—or even think on their feet by accessing and "learning" from the Internet cloud.
One company, Hanson Robotics, unveiled its life-like "Professor Einstein," which has realistic facial expressions and can engage in informative conversations such as lessons in math and science.
Jia Jia is not quite there yet, but Chen sees a bright future for her kind in China. He said growing prosperity was causing many young Chinese to eschew jobs like waitressing, while an ageing population would require more hands on deck in hospitals and nursing homes - even if they aren't human hands

Actor Yemi Solade reveals how his current wife proposed to him after his first wife left him
There is no gainsaying the fact that actor, Yemi Solade, has a beautiful wife. His better half used to be an actress known as Hannah Marsh, and a lot has been written about their union. However, many do not know how the affair actually kick started, but Yemi revealed that much recently on a television show.
When asked to recount how he met his wife, he said, “My wife actually toasted me. I had previously been married, but my first wife left me and went abroad. I met my current wife on the set of Wale Adenuga’s Super Story. God indeed has a sense of humour because I met two half-castes that year, Lilian Bach and Hannah Marsh. Lilian played my wife, while Hannah acted as my secretary in that particular production. I liked Hannah, but I initially did not want to get involved with half-caste ladies because I felt they are expensive to maintain, and only rich men can handle them. However, we met again and unknown to me, she had also been eyeing me, so she asked me to bring my phone, and she dialed her number on it. We all know the rest of the story, and now, we have two kids between us. I feel it was God that wrote our script, and I am pleased with it.”
Solade, who is of the opinion that stars are not appreciated in Nigeria, further said, “I like to hide my face because popular people are not appreciated in this country, unlike overseas. In some other countries, when stars are going out, they are usually accompanied by hefty bodyguards, but it’s not like that here. As a matter of fact, I do not believe we have celebrities here in Nigeria, we only have popular people. Stars are not supposed to buy second-hand cars like we do here. Meanwhile, some popular people in Nigeria are always attending every event in town, and I do not think it should be so because it cheapens them.”
How Ubi Franklin and Lilian Esoro now avoid each other at functions
What is really going on in the young marriage of record label owner, Ubi Franklin and actress, Lilian Esoro, is the million-dollar question on the lips of many. While the two dramatis personae in the eye of the storm may want everybody to believe that all is well, it is apparent that all is no longer at ease.
The estranged husband and wife were both guests at comedian, Ali Baba’s January 1st Show, and they kept their distance from each other. Sunday Scoop spotted Ubi sitting with other guests at the VIP section looking forlorn, while Lilian obviously had the time of her life with friends at the same VIP section. Full of smiles, she took pictures with Tiwa Savage, Annie Idibia and other guests which she splattered on her Instagram page.
It will be recalled that their union had been rocky from the very start. It is believed that Lilian initially did not want to marry Ubi, and she had indeed turned down his marriage proposal at first, before she was pressured to accept. She had even deleted her account on Instagram and went on hibernation before friends in the industry prevailed on her to accept Ubi, advising her that love usually grows when given a chance. This was amidst unconfirmed rumours that Lilian’s heart was with a popular married comedian who she loved deeply. According to whispers circulating in the entertainment industry, Lilian is still in love with this comedian who is one of the most prominent in the business at the moment. Even though he is married, Lilian is said to be allegedly content being his side-fiddle than being the First Lady in Ubi’s life.
However, with the arrival of their son, Jayden in July 2016, many felt the couple had come to terms with their marriage and were ready to continue living as man and wife. But this was not to be.
According to Sunday Scoop’s sources, Ubi is still interested in the marriage and he believes his wife will come around, but Lilian practically sees herself as ‘single and loving life.’
With recent developments, it is apparent that a chance of reconciliation between the duo is growing dimmer by the moment.

6 Lucrative Businesses Nigerians can do in 2017
Nigerian business mogul, Aliko Dangote
Nigerians enter 2017 today with high expectations, resolutions and top targets. No one contemplates repeating the mistakes and missteps of 2016, which was full of confusion and indecision.
The out-gone year was, perhaps, the most challenging period in the history of Nigerian businesses because it was characterised by policy flip-flops and poor market cohesion.
In spite of 2016 challenges, one word stands tall in 2017: Opportunity.
This year, like other years gone by, presents a number of opportunities as well as challenges. Some businesses are bound to struggle while others will thrive. Some might die while many would still be birthed. However, Nigerians are encouraged to tap into a number of opportunities that abound locally. Importation is highly discouraged this year owing to the persisting dollar crunch and the possibility that the present administration will put more policies in place to discourage dollar outflows and import.
Donald Todrin, CEO of Second Wind Consultants, a debt workout and turnaround consultant firm in the United States, said in a period of recession many people, especially business owners, are bound to panic.
“But there’s an alternative to panicking. We are confronting change, and change is an opportunity for advances. Now you have the choice to take advantage of change or allow yourself to be buried by it,” Todrin said. In its characteristic manner, therefore, BDSUNDAY has sought out profitable and sustainable businesses Nigerians can do this year.
Yoghurt production
First on the list of what Nigerians can do this year is yoghurt production. Yoghurt production is a neglected area, but statistics show that 98 percent of Nigeria’s dairy needs, including milk, are imported into Nigeria.
According to Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Group, who is also a dairy maker, only 2 percent of the country’s dairy needs are met by local companies. Official data show that $1 million worth of milk is imported into the country every day. With dollar scarcity and roadblocks to importation in the country, yoghurt production is a sure bet.
Yoghurt is a healthy source of milk, and capacity to produce a low-sugar brand for the aged and diabetic as well as a moderately sugar type for other classes is an advantage.
Producing yoghurt could cost between N2 million and N10 million, depending on the type of equipment used and their sources. Yoghurt production requires major machinery such as motorised stainless steel mixer, incubator, pasteuriser, filling machine, UV Lamp, transfer pumps, PH Meter, shrink wrapper and weighing machine. Some of the machines are imported into the country, but many of them are fabricated locally by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi in Lagos or Projects Development Institute Enugu (PRODA). Local fabricators can also help.
According to FIIRO, return on investment is 46.1 percent, while return on equity can go as high as 115 percent. Payback period is 34 months and 19 days, while break-even point is 51.8 percent.
Cashew processing
Next on the list is cashew processing. If you do not have a cassava farm, get one. However, you can liaise with a cashew farmer who will supply you with raw cashew nuts for onward processing. Export of cashew is now one big business, as Vietnam, world largest cashew exporter, is currently experiencing its worst drought in a century.
Cashew sells like cakes in the United States, India, Spain and many parts of Europe. Apart from helping to maintain a healthy heart and bones, cashew also helps in weight loss.
Cashew nuts are used in producing chemicals, paints, varnishes, insecticides and fungicides, electrical conductress, and several types of oil.
Cashew exporters in Nigeria made $250 million in 2015 and $300 million in 2016, according to Tola Faseru, president, National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), who disclosed this to journalists at the Annual Cashew Logistics meeting held in Lagos recently.
If you wish to process for the local or international market, then be ready to procure machines such as boiler, sheller or cracker, dryer, and packaging machine. Two good things about cashew are that its return on investment is as high as 55 percent and its payback time is just 12 months, say experts.
Piggery
Another business to watch in 2017 is piggery. Experts believe Nigerians are not tapping into the opportunity in this area because of ignorance and poor perception about pigs.
Apart from a breeding ground, which should be large enough, it is easy to start a piggery with N500,000 to N1 million. To start a piggery, you need healthy piglets, standard pens, quality feed and three to six workers, depending on the number of piglets available.
The biggest thing about pigs is that they reproduce in large numbers. Pigs can go between N15,000 and N40,000 depending on their size and weight, and one pig can easily reproduce up to 15 to 20 piglets. This is its biggest advantage. Secondly, pigs can survive in any environment.
Pigs are in high demand in China, Japan, India, Mexico, Canada and many parts of Asia. In 2015, United States exported pork (pig meat) worth $4 billion; Germany $4 billion; Spain $3 billion, among others.
Adhesive production
Apart from pork, Nigeria is still waiting for someone that will produce adhesives used by leather shoe and bag manufacturers. Aba, located in Abia State, has between 50,000 and 100,000 shoe, bag and trunk makers. This does not include hundreds of thousands of shoe-makers in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Onitsha. Many of these shoe-makers run to China to buy adhesives because there is yet no known company that produces good adhesives to satisfy them right now.
Incidentally, research shows that adhesives can be produced from cassava (starch), which Nigeria happens to be the world’s biggest producer. Chinese adhesives are not good enough when compared with Dutch, Spanish or Italian, shoe-makers told BDSUNDAY. Currently, these shoe-makers cannot even find dollars to import these adhesives, showing that there is a huge potential for someone producing adhesives in the country.
Artisanship
Nigerian middle and the rich classes are looking for committed artisans and construction workers. Many of the local artisans are considered not serious enough and are accused of being unprofessional in their conduct. This pushes many Nigerian middle and rich class individuals, including construction companies, into Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, and other neighbours to get serious and committed staff when building their houses.
What this means is that serious-minded Nigerians can go into this business as consultants, who will now search out committed Nigerians in rural areas to take these jobs. This is money-spinning in many African countries and even Europe and is an opportunity here, given the attitude of Nigerian artisans.
On the other hand, artisans that are committed to their work are likely to have more people knocking on their doors this year, according to Ojere Imere, a construction expert.
“This is the reality of the situation. It’s not just in construction. It’s also found in the textile and fashion industry, in the electrical and electronics,” said Imere in a telephone interview.
Fruit juice production
The fruit juice production is a honey pot. Fruit juice is made from orange, pineapple, guava, mango, as well as additives such as sodium benzoate, sweeteners, and citric acid, among others.
The rule set by Nigerian authorities is that a fruit juice should contain 40 percent of natural fruit juice. This means that if you are producing pineapple juice, ensure it contains 40 percent of natural pineapple.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) estimates that Nigeria imports N165 billion worth of fruit juice every year.
In a paper presented at a workshop organised by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in Owerri in April 2016, Frank Jacobs, president of MAN, said in spite of the high rate of fruit production and a thriving juice market, the country imported fruits concentrates.
Apart from production site and generating plant, someone with N3 million to N10 million can start a small-scale fruit juice company, depending on the litres that will be produced, according to feasibility studies.
Machinery needed to start includes juice extractor, homogeniser, pasteuriser, hydrolyser, filling machine and holding tank.
One big bang about fruit juice is that if you cannot set up a production plant, you can get involved in the value chain by supplying oranges, pineapples, guava and other fruit to companies like Chi Limited and Coca-Cola, among others.
Many fruit juice makers in Nigeria go to the extent of importing fruit to satisfy demand for their products. Planting oranges, guava and pineapples is the best bet in this case, say experts.
That awkward moment when all the contestants of a pageant were disqualified for being beauties without brains
The show which took place in Nnewi, Anambra State was all glitz and glamourAll the contestants of the 2016 Most Beautiful Girl in Nnewi pageant held on December 30, 2016 were disqualified by the sponsor of the pageant, business mogul Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for failing to meet up to expectations – and that’s putting it mildly.
The show which took place in Nnewi, Anambra State was all glitz and glamour as the beautiful ladies representing the various communities in the industrial town paraded the catwalk in their finest attires.
Things however took a sour and embarrassing turn when it was time for them to showcase their intelligence (or in this case, lack of it) during the questions session.
The audience and organisers were left in shock when none of the girls could answer any of the questions they were asked.
Speaking to Star.ng, Princewill Atasie, one of the organisers of the pageant explained that the questions were surprisingly, very easy questions like ‘What is the name of the Nigerian president?’, ‘who is the traditional ruler of Nnewi?‘ and so on but the girls all had ‘no idea’ what the answers were.
He went on to say that ‘the only girl who got close enough to getting an answer right said the name of the Nigerian president is Dr. Mohammed Buhari.”
Feeling highly disappointed and embarrassed by their display of dumbness, Dr. Ubah took back the brand new car which he had promised to give to the winner and advised the girls to go back to school.
And to aid their quick return to school (maybe), he shared the cash value of the car prize to the wannabe-beauty queens.
