Why upcoming actresses get sexually harassed — Angela Philips

By Ayo Onikoyi
Busty and beautiful Angela Philips has seen quite a few things as far as the Nigerian movie industry is concerned. Her run of good streaks began as‘Efe’ in the popular but rested soap opera ‘Behind the Clouds’, then she reaffirmed her presence on the scene with a highly celebrated comedy ‘Osofiason’ and later went on to stamp her name as one of the leading ladies of the tube in ‘Domino’, another soap that lit households across the country in the early 2000s.
Angela-Philips-1Born to a Lagosian father and an Imo State-born mother, Angela has an hybrid genes in her that allows her to deliver multi-ethnic roles with effortless gusto.
In all her years as an actress, spanning over two decades, the actress claimed she has never been sexually harassed even though her looks would present her as an easy target.
“I’ve never been sexually harassed. If you go for an audition half naked, what do you expect? Besides, most people are very desperate for movie roles, they are willing to do anything to act in a movie. So, it isn’t about being harassed, it is about you.
If you set up yourself for harassment you would be harassed. Most upcoming actresses set themselves up for harassment” she stated boldly in a chat with Ayo Onikoyi.
“I don’t even understand them at all. Unlike those days when we got into the industry, there was discipline, strictness and ethics.
God will help all of us” she added

THEY’RE Hollywood’s hottest couple, but it seems even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt aren’t averse to a few problems every now and then.
In a new interview with US Vogue, the 40-year-old actor spoke about the couple’s new film, By The Sea, which looks at a relationship in decline.
“It’s not autobiographical,” Jolie said of the film, which follows a couple who take a holiday to France together in a bid to save their crumbling marriage.

The actor gave hope to us all when she admitted the couple’s marriage is not always perfect.
“Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film,” she said.
“As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short.”
The movie, which Joile wrote and directed, was shot on the Maltese island of Gozo soon after the couple married at their French Chateau in August 2014. (The actor describes the film as their “honeymoon”.)

By The Sea marks the first time the two have appeared in a movie together since 2005, when they fell in love on set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Jolie also opened up about having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in March, two years after a preventive double mastectomy.
“I wish my mom had been able to make those choices,” she said. “They are not easy surgeries. The ovaries are an easy surgery, but the hormone changes — interesting.
“We did joke that I had my Monday edit. Tuesday surgery. Wednesday go into menopause. Thursday come back to edit, a little funky with my steps.”
Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 at the age of 56 after battling ovarian cancer and breast cancer for eight years.

Nigerian Girl gets dumped by boyfriend after bleaching to satisfy him

A Nairaland user, AlihKizito posted this story not too long ago...it's something ladies can learn from!

Nigerian girls could be so silly (apologies to good girls in this forum). How will you describe the stupidity of the lady in this story. Let me quote it as I got it from her friend.

My name is Ladi and my friend is in a dilemma now. She is living in shock of the reality that her 8 months boyfriend just dumped her for “not being the kind of fair he wants.” She once told me that her boyfriend told her that it wouldn’t be bad for her to be a little lighter because he feels he is often attracted to light skinned ladies.
I discouraged her from bleaching her skin and she told me I would not understand what dark skinned ladies like her go through. I told her that if a guy doesn’t like her the way she is, then he doesn’t deserve her.
But when I returned from a trip after 5 weeks, my friend had changed completely from the dark coloured lady she used to be to a light skinned lady; even lighter than I am.
Now she is telling me that Johnson has dumped her and told her he feels embarrassed walking side by side with her and that she has a particular odour he can’t stand.
She said he told her all these and many more to her face after he had been avoiding her and refusing to pick her call, till she eventually tracked him down to ask what was wrong with their relationship.
I really want to help her but she doesn’t want to move on and is blaming herself for using cheap cream instead of bleaching like a big girl. Please my fellow people, what do I tell her to get her out of this mess.

Julius Agwu mocks Nigerian Pastors & the witches/wizards that endorsed Goodluck Jonathan

So last night, Comedian Julius Agwu took a swipe at the Nigerian Pastors that tried to convince Nigerians to vote for former president Goodluck Jonathan in the past election.

While addressing guests at the red summit gala which held at the Harbor point, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island Lagos last night, he had this to say.

"I know how many Nigerian Pastors were paid big money to pray for GEJ to make sure he came back as president, but their prayers were not answered."

He further said "Moreover, why was it mostly witches association that were endorsing him?
The so-called association of withes and wizards kept saying orishiriishi, claiming that GEJ is their man and that he will be the president but God pass them"

Moving on, he said "Please help tell president Buhari not to joke with this God that got him to the throne. As a matter of fact, we need to discard the first verse of the National anthem and stick with just the second stanza. We have been singing 'Arise o compatriots' for many years now but the compatriots are not arising biko...let us stick with stanza two 'O God of creation, direct our noble cuase'...let us be lik the Americans whose theme reads 'In God we trust'. That theme is really working for them despite all the bad things they do"

Rotimi Amaechi, Fayemi, Oby Ezekwesili were some of the dignitaries on seat while Julius cracked the jokes.

How Rotimi Amaechi, Debola Williams & Chude Jideonwo convinced Buhari to wear a suit for the first time

Buhari 2015 BN 3

When President Buhari wore a suit for his first campaign shoot last year, some Nigerians were quick to mock him while others praised him for the dapper look.

Just so you know, that's the first and probably the last time Buhari will dress that way!

Well that's according to Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking at the red summit gala which held at the Harbor point, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island Lagos last night, the APC lord told a story of how he got Red media (Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo) to handle the election campaign for Buhari.

"Buhari said to me, do we have to do all these paparazzi, Amaechi you know my nature but i said him, sir you have to wear this suit so that Nigerians can see the handsome side of you. Wee had to convince him and then he finally obliged us and today, that photoshoot is still the best he has ever had. We were able to present the other side of the president that most people did not know...most peeps didn't know he can laugh but we brought out that side of him.

On behalf of the campaign and Buhari, i thereby appreciate Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo for their hard work and achieving a feat that many thought they couldn't achieve. When i gave the job to them,  I took a risk. Why? There was a company from America, another from Britain that wanted to do this job and handle the campaign for us but i wanted these young men to do it and i was ready to take the risk, fail or succeed with them and look where we are.

Yes God won the election for us but used them and Nigerians." he said.

The red summit event was put together to mark the ten years anniversary of Red media!
